5.11 Tac A2 Gloves Review
There’s a reason why you see professional shooters, police officers, soldiers and Marines, and even Hollywood actors wearing proper shooting gloves on duty – and it’s not because they want to look cool.
Okay, that’s probably why Hollywood actors are wearing shooting gloves at, so let’s get them right out of the way. But professional shooters, ones that are depending upon putting very accurate rounds down range the first time they pulled the trigger on a cold barrel need to be able to count on every piece of their equipment – including their gloves – when that moment strikes…
…Which is why a lot of those same professional shooters rely on 5.11 TAC A2 gloves.
Positive Product Features
Some of the most impressive shooting gloves that you’ll find on the market today (especially at this price point), the 5.11 TAC A2 gloves are going to provide you with an extreme level of dexterity without compromising overall performance in the areas of protection.
Unbelievably, even though these gloves are ridiculously thin (thanks to the breathable nylon, neoprene, and leather combination of construction materials) they are still going to protect you from cold weather, dirt and debris, and just about anything else that you’ll come into contact with in a tactical situation.
Sure, they aren’t going to be able to protect you from knife attacks, razor wire, or other more extreme situations – but if you want to be able to comfortably manipulate your weapon (and accurately send rounds down range when necessary) without your shooting glove getting in the way, the 5.11 TAC A2 gloves are right in your wheelhouse.
We searched high and low to try and find some negative things to bring up when we reviewed these tactical gloves, and though we found a couple of things we weren’t absolutely crazy about, for the most part they are top-of-the-line solutions at a budget based price point.
Cons About This Product
The first thing that kind of struck us the wrong way was the overall fit and finish on these gloves. We noticed that they run a little bit on the larger side, and the last thing that you want in a tactical shooting glove is a bit of extra wiggle room.
Secondly, the way that the leather reinforcement was attached to the gloves was done in a very “one-size-fits-all” kind of way like the Hatch Street Guard gloves – which is great for mass-producing tactical shooting gloves, but isn’t really something that serious shooters are going to be all too happy with.
The match between your hand and your firearm needs to be picture-perfect, and if the sizes off or the placement of these leather components get in the way at any point in time, they may compromise your abilities in the field.
It’s at least something to consider.
What Makes the 5.11 Tac A2 Gloves So Special?
The real star of the show when it comes to the 5.11 TAC A2 gloves is that they are so inexpensive, especially for the performance that you’re going to get out of them.
Sure, they probably aren’t going to last nearly as long as more expensive gloves (especially those made by Mechanix or Black Hawk Tactical), but they definitely get the job done if you don’t intend to use them all that often – or anticipate running through pairs of tactical gloves and no matter what!
How do the 5.11 Tac A2 Gloves stack up against the competition?
When stacked up against the competition, these shooting gloves definitely come out ahead of the pack. They aren’t exactly the best pair of tactical shooting gloves on the planet, but they’ll definitely get the job done!
Those trying to figure out whether or not shooting gloves are for them without spending an arm and a leg are going to fall in love with the 5.11 TAC A2 gloves.
Those that are deploying to the sandbox (or any other “government-sponsored vacation”) might want to look elsewhere – or at least pick up a couple of extra pairs for the journey.
